Diverse career opportunities — in one degree
Think of the career possibilities for a Doctor of
Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree recipient — and then
think again. Today’s pharmacy students are
preparing for incredibly diverse careers in the
field.
And they’re getting a great start at UNMC.
The four-year UNMC pharmacy program is
heralded as one of the most innovative and
comprehensive in the country. We’ve been
included in some pretty prestigious company as
one of U.S. News and World Report’s top
pharmacy schools. Students here enjoy the
opportunity to learn and work as part of a total
health care team and take their knowledge to the
community, too.
Where can a Pharm.D. take you?
There’s a whole world of possibilities in a
Pharm.D. from UNMC, thanks to an extensive
education from dedicated faculty with years of
experience in research and patient care. Become
involved in exciting research at the UNMC College
of Pharmacy, such as improving drug delivery
systems through nanoscale technologies –
implantable devices 100,000 times smaller than
the head of a pin – or work with faculty to develop
a new vaccine for malaria.
Graduates can choose
careers in the pharmaceutical industry, community
pharmacies and hospitals, home health care,
managed care, or as part of a drug therapy team,
among others. And with additional training after
graduation, pharmacists go on to specialize in
fields including oncology, cardiology, pediatrics
and geriatrics.
The UNMC College of Pharmacy is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.

With flying colors
