Where do they work?
Most perfusionists work in hospitals, spending the majority of their time in the operating room. Perfusionists also work in critical environments such as intensive care units and emergency rooms. In general, perfusionists work in life-saving situations where patients are in critical condition.
Experienced perfusionists may find additional career opportunities working for companies that manufacture perfusion supplies or equipment. These individuals may be employed in research and development, or marketing and sales.
