The following represent studies on the 1987 - 1999 Class Years of Physician Graduates in 2005 Careers and Locations. This is a 40% sample of the entire US workforce that has completed training and distributed to representative careers and locations.
These physicians have had consistent career choice and distribution by origins, ages, and other factors for decades, making this cohort the best predictor of future career choice and practice location.
The database has been coded to allow comparisons using logistic regression with generation of odds ratios. Physicians with certain types of birth origins, ages, medical school types, or career choices are more likely to be found in desirable rural and underserved practice locations and to be found retained instate.
