Medical Students Over 29 Years

Robert C. Bowman, M.D.

Allopathic grads in the AMA Masterfile, Osteopathic Graduates tend to be older

Although generally older medical students have not changed much in recent years, there is great variation in each medical school

Older medical students are admitted as a lower priority as seen in this file Older Medical Student Career Choices

Divisions in Physician Career and Location Choice Related to Age at Graduation

Overall if the nation had had the same number of older graduates in more recent years, the effect would have been 60 more rural family physicians a year. If Duluth was 50 % older medical students, it would have graduated 66 % into family medicine and 24 % into rural family medicine.
