Research Interests
The goal of our research is to understand why some people become permanently incapacitated following low dose exposure to organophosphorus pesticides. Most people show no effects when they spray their lawn with the insecticides that can be purchased in the hardware store, but a few lose muscle strength in their limbs, and suffer diminished cognitive functions. We are beginning this study by identifying all the proteins modified by exposure to these poisons. Our chief tool is mass spectrometry.
