A professional staff member employed on an academic-year basis may terminate his appointment at the end of an academic year, if he gives notice at the earliest opportunity and not later than May 15, or 30 days after receiving notification of the terms and conditions of appointment for the coming academic year, whichever is later.

A member of the professional staff employed on other than an academic-year basis shall give notice at the earliest opportunity, and in no case later than the latest of the following:

  1. Four months before the termination date of the appointment
  2. 30 days after receiving notification of the terms and conditions of appointment for another term

A member of the professional staff may properly request a waiver of the time requirements in case of hardship, or where he or she would otherwise be denied substantial professional advancement or other opportunity, but the member should abide by the decision on his or her request.
