Active duty Military students in DLP
Active duty military PAs may submit a tuition assistance form if approved by their local education office. If a tuition assistance form is submitted, then the military PA need only submit the cost share amount the military does not pay. The military education office will have specific limitations on the length of time of enrollment. The PA must complete the course within the time specified by the education office or face recoupment by the military for the entire amount of the tuition assistance.
If a military PA submits a DANTES form, the PA must submit the entire amount at the time of acceptance. The program will forward the form to DANTES, and then notify DANTES when the student completes the course. DANTES will reimburse the student when notified the student has completed the program. DANTES allows a maximum of one year to complete the program.
If an applicant is planning to use his/her VA funding for the first time, then he/she must complete a VA Form 22-1990 (Application for Education Benefits) establishing eligibility. Check with your base education office or local VA office for assistance. The VA toll free number is (800) 827-1000. VA Form 22-1990 should then be sent to the PA Program along with your application.
An applicant who has previously used VA education benefits must request the continuation of VA funding for the Distance Learning Program. The UNMC Office of Academic Records will complete VA Form 22-1999 (enrollment certification) and forward to the appropriate VA Regional Office.
