PASS OFFICER DESCRIPTIONS
Below you will find the descriptions for the class officer positions available to incoming students. If you have any questions regarding particular positions feel free to contact a current student in that position.
Election will take place during the first few weeks of classes.
President
The President shall preside over the meetings of the Student Society, set the meetings’ agendas and submit the same to the Secretary for copies and distribution coordinate the activities of the committees and keep the membership informed of the activities of these committees.
Constituent Chapter Student Representative (CCSR)
The CCSR shall serve as a full voting member on the NAPA Board of Directors and also serve as a liaison between the Student Society and NAPA.
Vice President
The Vice President shall assist the President and preside in his or her absence, and act as a director of any committees reporting to the board.
Secretary
The Secretary shall maintain all records of the Student Society, record minutes of meetings, notify members of forthcoming meetings and carry on the general correspondence of the Student Society.
Treasurer
The Treasurer shall coordinate the collection of dues, maintain the Student Society bank account and report to membership the Student Society’s financial status at each general meeting.
AOR Representative
The Representative to the Assembly of Representatives (AOR) shall be responsible for the distribution of all Student Academy information to his/her Program. The AOR should monitor the SAAAPA Homepage at least monthly for news of information. The AOR Representative will also serve as point of contact for the SAAAPA Student Academy Board of Directors and committees. If possible, the AOR Representative shall be fully funded by their class to attend the annual AOR meeting at the AAPA annual conference to elect new officers of the Student Academy, to establish and amend policy of the Student Academy, and to conduct business as necessary. The AOR shall then serve as the HOD representative in the following year.
AOR Alternate
The Alternate Representative to the AOR if possible, shall be fully funded by their own class also attend the annual AOR meeting at the AAPA annual conference and sit on the floor of the Assembly in the event that the representative to the AOR is unable to attend or the AOR leaves the floor. This position shall also serve as conference coordinator to coordinate the student involvement in the AAPA annual and regional conferences, including but not limited to scheduling rooms, transportation, administering available funding.
HOD Delegate
The House of Delegates (HOD) Student Delegate shall be responsible for the distribution of all HOD information to his/her program. The delegate to the HOD shall be the previous years Representative to the AOR. In the event the previous years Representative to the AOR is unable to serve as the HOD, the alternate AOR Representative shall serve in that position. If the alternate is unable to serve in the HOD, this position will be appointed from the class officers at that time. The HOD delegate will also serve as point of contact for the SAAAPA and AAPA. If possible, the HOD delegate shall also be fully funded by their own class to attend the AAPA annual conference and be seated as either a SAAAPA delegate or alternate in the formal meetings of the AAPA HOD.
Multicultural Affairs Representative
The Student Multicultural Affairs Representative shall be the liaison between the Student Society and the SAAAPA Director of Multicultural Affairs and shall act as a representative of all physician assistant students and convey any and all concerns or issues of diversity to SAAAPA.
Allied Health Representative
The Allied Health Representative shall serve as the liaison to the School of Allied Health and is responsible for representing the Student Society at committee meetings.
Student Senate Representative
The Student Senate Representative shall represent the Student Society at monthly meetings of the Medical Center Student Senate, the official representative organization for the student body at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Rural Health Representative (SARH)
The SARH Representative shall promote interest in health careers in rural areas of Nebraska by hosting monthly seminars on rural health issues. The SARH representative will assist with monthly program development and communicating activities and opportunities to the PA Class.
Sharing Clinic Representative
The Sharing Clinic Representative shall represent the PA students at the meetings one hour at lunch every other week for the fall, spring, and summer semester. Participate in the interviewing and election process for the medical and pharmacy student board members in February. Actively participate in training courses, fundraisers, and honorary activities for sponsors and volunteers of the clinic. Send out reminder/information sheets to the PA students that are due to attend the clinics. Administrate at the clinics a minimum of 2-3 times each semester including the summer. This is above and beyond the times that the student representative attends the clinic as a provider for required patient contact hours. Collect data and information in a notebook for the next person to take over when the position is finished. It must always be updated for the next person who takes over. Take some pictures for the PA student website to get current information out on the website to promote the clinic and the role of the Physician Assistant student. Represent the 40 opinions and voices of the Physician Assistant Class to improve and create new opportunities to further our education and provide medical care to underprivileged people in Omaha.
