School of Allied Health Professions Professionalism Ceremony

Our innaugural all-school Professionalism Ceremony was Saturday, August 27, 2011. This video shows clips from the reception. 

Schedule of Events:

1:00-2:00 PM Individual Program Ceremonies:

  • Physician Assistant ceremony will take place in the Durham Research Center auditorium on Durham Research Plaza (45th Street), Omaha, NE.
  • All other program ceremonies will take place in the Michael Sorrell Center for Health Science Education building on the corner of 42nd and Emile Streets, Omaha, NE.

    Cytotechnology, Clinical Perfusion, and Medical Nutrition - MSC 2014
    Physical Therapy - MSC Truhlsen Events Center
    Radiation Science Technology Education - MSC 3002

2:00-4:00 PM Reception and Self-Guided Tours in the Michael Sorrell Center for Health Science Education building on the corner of 42nd and Emile Streets, Omaha, NE. We will have a sheet with directions to the following locations where someone from that area will welcome parents and students and give a brief overview of the area:

 Bennett Hall                          UNMC Bookstore
 McGoggan Library               Gross Anatomy Lab
 
This is a rite of passage for students in the School of Allied Health Professions to begin their professional program or clinical encounters with patients. The ceremony focuses on professionalism, encompassing the concepts of ethical behavior, compassionate care, and service to others. As students are given their pins or first white coat during this ceremony, it is a reminder of the high standards to which each student is expected to maintain in the care of patients.
