Continuing Education Courses

To become ASCP certified in Medical Technology - MT(ASCP):

Graduates of the UNMC Clinical Laboratory Science Program are eligible to take a national examination administered by the Board of Registry (BOR), the separate, certifying body within the organizational structure of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Those who pass the exam in medical technology may use the initials, MT(ASCP), after their name to show they are proficient in their field.

To become NCA certified in Clinical Laboratory Science - CLS(NCA):

Graduates of the UNMC Clinical Laboratory Science Program are eligible to take a national examination administered by the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, Inc. (NCA).  Those who pass the exam in clinical laboratory sicence may use the initials, CLS(NCA), after their name to show they are proficient in their field. 

The NCA is a voluntary, nonprofit, non-governmental organization that conducts certification of medical laboratory personnel and other credential-related activities deemed necessary to serve the patient and public needs. NCA provides national peer-developed and peer-administered examinations for medical laboratory personnel.
