Students are required to complete a minimum of four rotations during the last Phase of their education. The expenses associated with these outside rotations are the responsibility of the student. Generally, rotations to clinical affiliate hospitals will last 8 weeks. Students are given an opportunity to learn from a diverse faculty who practice at various clinical sites performing open-heart surgery.

In addition, the DCPE maintains a voluntary affiliation with The Great Ormond Street Hospital in England.

Students have the option of spending one month at this premier hospital for pediatric cardiac surgery.
