History
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program was originally offered at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) as an on-the-job training opportunity within the Radiology Department in 1975. In 1988, the program with a general learning concentration was incorporated into the Division of Radiation Science Technology Education as a component of the multidiscipline baccalaureate degree program. At that time it became a recognized program in the School of Allied Health Professions (SAHP). The DMS program became accredited by the CAAHEP in 1991.
