Tanya Custer, MS, RT(R)(T)

Custer is an associate professor and Distance Education Director in the Department of Allied Health Professions Education, Research, & Practice in the College of Allied Health Professions at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Custer has a master's degree in Leadership Education with a specialization in Distance Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in the MSIA Health Practice & Medical Education Research Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Custer has a passion for distance education and currently directs three online programs at UNMC: the Master of Health Professions Teaching & Technology, the Master of Healthcare Delivery Science, and the Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging and Therapeutic Sciences (BSMITS) Degree Advancement Option (DAO).

She is a member of the UNMC Interprofessional Academy of Educators and is also very active in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the Association of Educators in Imaging & Radiologic Sciences, and the Nebraska Society of Radiologic Technologists.

Research interests

Custer's research interests are related to educational research specific to online learning and distance education for health professions education. Her research portfolio to date focuses on topics related to the education of medical imaging and therapeutic sciences including mindfulness, student-centered learning, professionalism, curriculum development, instructional technology, and e-Learning.
