How to Apply

The application deadline for the 2009-2010 academic year is February 17, 2009.

 

 

You are eligible to apply for the UNMC Dietetic Internship Program if:

 

  • you have completed, or are near completion of, a baccalaureate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, AND
  • you have completed, or are near completion of, the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) coursework approved by the Commission on Dietetics Education (CADE) of The American Dietetic Association (ADA); AND
  • your overall Grade Point Average (GPA) is equal to/greater than 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (an overall GPA of 3.0 or greater is recommended)

Your application for the program is a two step process:

 

 

  Step 1:

Complete an online UNMC application no later than February 17, 2009.

 

 

  • Submit payment for the application fee ($45) if you are NOT transferring from within the University of Nebraska system (UNO, UNL, or UNK).

 

  • Complete an online change of campus form, in lieu of the application fee, if you ARE transferring from within the University of Nebraska system (UNO, UNL, or UNK).

 

Step 2:

 

Submit a complete hard copy application packet postmarked not later than February 17, 2009.

 

 

Applications from foreign students must include evidence of passing the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

 

Selection Procedure:

 

The UNMC Dietetic Internship openings are filled through participation in the nationwide computer matching process in April of each year. A selection committee, comprised of adjunct clinical instructors and preceptors, identifies and prioritizes computer match list candidates from the pool of qualified applicants. Selection criteria include:

 

  1. Scholastic ability indicated by grade point averages (overall GPA, professional sciences, physical and biological sciences, behavioral and social sciences, communication sciences, elective coursework) and, if applicable, recency of education coursework.

  2. Quantitative and qualitative evaluation of work experience, including paid and volunteer experience.

  3. Other activities, including extra curricular and community service experiences, and the degree of leadership exhibited in these areas.

  4. Communication skills, personal, and professional attributes, as demonstrated through application content and letters of reference.

 

The list of prioritized qualified applicants to the UNMC Dietetic Internship Program is submitted for nationwide computer matching in late March for the April match.

 

Computer Matching:

The UNMC Dietetic Internship Profram participates in the nationwide computer match process to fill all openings.

 

Computer Matching Mark/Sense Card to D&D Digital Systems:

Applicants must register online at http://www.dnddigital.com/ and enter their contact information and Dietetic Internships - OR - send either completed preference and release cards or a combined preference and release sheet, along with a non-refundable check or money order (Payable to D&D Digital for $50.00) to D&D Digital, postmarked on or before February 17, 2009. Mailed materials should be sent by certified mail with return receipt requested to provide written verification for the applicant of on-time mailing and receipt by D&D, if needed.

 

Notification Day: Applicant matching results will be posted on http://www.dnddigital.com/ from 12:01 AM Central Time, April 20, 2009 (Notification Day) through April 21, 2009 (Appointment Day). This is the only source of notification for applicants. Each applicant will receive either ONE MATCH or NO MATCH after Log In.

 

Appointment Day: If you are matched to the UNMC Dietetic Internship Program, you must contact the Program Director (Glenda Woscyna) by telephone (402-559-7365) or FAX (402-559-7420) on or before 5:00 PM Centeral Time, April 21, 2009, to confirm acceptance of the MATCH.
