Student Fees: Dietetic interns are students of the University of Nebraska Medical Center and are required to pay library, facility, background check, distributive learning fees and graduation fees.
†Health Insurance: Dietetic interns are classified as full-time students and must have health and accident insurance. This requirement can be met by purchasing a University endorsed plan or by providing evidence of comparable coverage through parents, spouse or personal plan.
Additional Estimated Costs to Students:
Program/Profession Related Costs: Dietetic interns are required to pay application and computer match costs, obtain medical exams and immunizations prior to enrollment, pay professional organization membership and meeting registration, and pay for the registration examination following graduation.
Housing and Living Costs: Students are responsible for making housing arrangements. Off-campus apartments are available within walking distance or throughout the Omaha metropolitan area. Student parking is available on campus. For financial aid purposes, living expenses (rent, food, transportation, other) are estimated at $1200 per month. Additional information regarding housing options may be obtained from the www.unmc.edu website and its Omaha website links.
Financial Assistance: The UNMC Dietetic Internship Program does not include a stipend. Dietetic interns are considered full-time students and, therefore, are eligible for guaranteed loans and for deferment of student loans during the internship. Partial tuition waivers may be available for highly qualified non-resident students who are admitted to the program through the nationwide computer matching process.
The American Dietetic Association Foundation offers a limited number of scholarships to students who are applying for dietetic internship programs.
