Goals and Highlights of the Physician Assistant Program

The Principal Goals of the UNMC Physician Assistant Program are:

  • To provide a comprehensive and relevant medical educational experience for students.

From the 2007-2009 Graduate Surveys: 

  • 94% believe they received excellent training on the Role of the PA
  • 88% believe they received excellent training in the Knowledge of Primary Care Medicine
  • 94% believe they received excellent training on the Ability to Perform the Physical Examination
  • 89% believe they received excellent training in Counseling Patients
  • 91% believe they received excellent training in the Professional Responsibility as a PA
  • To provide the means and support for every entering student to graduate.
  • Five year graduation rate of 98.5%
  • To prepare students to provide the highest quality, evidence-based and safe care for all patients.
  • 94% of employers in the last two years, strongly agree or agree that our graduates are well accepted by patients
  • To prepare exceptionally clinically competent graduates.
  • Five year NCCPA First-time PANCE pass rate of 98%
  • 100% of employers of the 2008 & 2009 graduates rated the UNMC PA Program overall as good to excellent 
  • To prepare graduates with exceptional professionalism.
  • 100% satisfactory rating on clinical rotations assessed by preceptors
  • To prepare graduates to achieve 100% first-time pass rate on the PANCE.
  • Five year NCCPA First-time PANCE pass rate of 98%
  • To prepare graduates to meet primary care workforce needs.
  • 45% of the graduates practice in a primary care setting
  • To prepare graduates to improve access to medical care in Nebraska, especially its underserved populations.
  • 60% of the UNMC PA graduates practice in Nebraska.
  • 44% of those practicing in Nebraska are in rural areas
