The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is under the Division of Radiation Science Technology Education at UNMC, and is offered as a post-primary certification modality. Completion of an accredited Radiography or Nuclear Medicine Technology program, certification in the profession (ARRT/CNMT), and 35 specified college prerequisites are required for admission into the program.
The 12-month program consists of lectures, demonstrations, labs, and supervised clinical instruction. A comprehensive knowledge base and clinical competencies are achieved through a plan of study that focuses on increasing proficiency under the guidance of qualified faculty and staff.
A Bachelor Degree in Radiation Science Technology is awarded upon completion of the program and graduates are eligible to take the national examinations for certification in sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
