Radiation Therapy Mission & Goals

Mission Statement

The Division of Radiation Science Technology Education provides a premier educational environment that prepares competent radiation science professionals who demonstrate the highest quality of patient care and service.


To uphold our Mission, the Radiation Therapy Program has the following goals:

Goal 1: Students will be clinically competent.
Student Learning Outcomes:
     Students will position patients as directed in the treatment plan/record.
     Students will operate equipment to plan or deliver a prescribed therapeutic dose.
     Students will describe the relationship between normal tissue tolerance and tumor lethal dose.

Goal 2: Students will demonstrate effective communication skills.
Student Learning Outcomes:
     Students will demonstrate effective written communication skills.
     Students will demonstrate effective oral communication skills.

Goal 3: Students will develop critical thinking skills.
Student Learning Outcomes:
     Students will recognize setup discrepancies/ variations.
     Students will critique portal images to evaluate localization and treatment field arrangement.

Goal 4: Students will model professionalism.
Student Learning Outcomes: 
     Students will perform in an ethical manner.
     Students will exhibit professional behavior.
