FOL Annual Meeting '09

Friends of the McGoogan Library of Medicine
2009 Annual Meeting

“Don’t just Google it”
Guest presenters:
Marie Reidelbach and Teri Hartman

More than ever before, patients find themselves inundated when they seek health
information to support what they learn from their health care providers, to allay their fears,
and to improve their loved ones' health. Instead of being limited to a "hit and miss" Internet search, Nebraska citizens and anyone treated at The Nebraska Medical Center have something far better to assist them: the Consumer Health Information Resource Service [CHIRS] and its associated programs.

Based at UNMC's McGoogan Library of Medicine, CHIRS is celebrating 25 years of serving Nebraskans with tailored health information resources located by expert medical librarians. This presentation will cover the history and scope of CHIRS, the new Go Local Nebraska directory, how these services strengthen the connection between patient and provider, and how they have improved the lives of the people that use them.
