More than five decades ago you were enjoying your days on campus. So much has changed at UNMC since that time. We invite you to celebrate your reunions and reunite and reminisce with your classmates during Alumni Weekend.

We hope you will join us for the highlight of the weekend – the Alumni Celebration Dinner on Saturday at the Omaha Hilton! We established a new way of recognizing our special alumni from the early years – the UNMC Alumni Half Century Club. There will be special tables for your classes so you will all sit together and be recognized at the Saturday evening dinner.

A photograph of all Half Century Club members will be taken.

1943  American movie studio executives agree to allow the Office of War Information to censor movies.

1944  Franklin D. Roosevelt wins reelection over Republican challenger Thomas E. Dewey to become the only U.S. president to be elected to a fourth term.

1945  At Gimbel's Department Store in New York City, the first ballpoint pens go on sale at $12.50 each.

1946  Project Diana bounces Radar waves off the Moon, measuring the exact distance between the earth and the moon and proving that the communication was possible between the earth and outer space.

1951  The Dennis the Menace comic strip appears in newspapers across the U.S. for the first time.

1953  Jonas Salk announces his polio vaccine.
