Clinical Base Year
The CBY must include at least 10 months of clinical rotations to include training in: internal medicine or emergency medicine, pediatrics, surgery or surgical specialties, critical care medicine, OBGYN, neurology, family practice or any combination of these.

Visa Sponsorship
We sponsor H1 and J1 Visas.

Score Requirements
We do not have a specific score requirement. All residents must have passed USMLE Step 3 before they begin training in our program.

Cutoff Graduation Year
We do not have a specific requirement on the number of years since medical school graduation, however, we do require our applicants to be current in their medical knowledge upon entering our training program.

Clinical Experience
We want to see some evidence and evaluations of recent clinical and patient care skills, preferably in the United States.

Once you are ECFMG certified, you are eligible for a Temporary Education Permit (TEP) in the State of Nebraska. This does not require USMLE Step 3. In Nebraska, you are not eligible for a permanent licensure until you've had three years of United States graduate medical education.

Deadline to Apply
We do not have a set deadline to apply since we sometimes fill positions outside the Match. We do encourage applications through ERAS.

Number of Applicants
We generally receive in excess of 400 applications each season.

Required Documents to ERAS application:

  1. USMLE score report for Steps 1 and 2 (Step 3 if applicable). Scores cannot be pending
  2. A copy of your ECFMG certificate (if applicable)
  3. Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
  4. Medical School Transcripts
  5. A one-page (typed) personal statement indicating why you want to pursue a career in Anesthesiology and why you are applying to UNMC
