Health Professions Degree Program

THE FIRST-EVER IN THE U.S.!  Earn a Medical, Doctor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree through this unique and exceptional Health Professions Degree Program right here at UNMC.

Training health professionals at the doctoral level has become an important need in the Chinese healthcare system.  Enhancing professional doctoral training, in addition to academic doctoral training in health sciences, has become an important need in Chinese society. UNMC responded to this need by developing the first-ever Health Professions Degree Program for Chinese students.

IMPORTANT: Applications are accepted from students from all Chinese universities.

This program is part of the Shanghai Sino-US Health Science Initiative (SSUHSI), a collaborative health science partnership between the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Tongji University, intended to advance the educational, clinical and research interests of the partner members, ultimately improving the health of all people worldwide. 

The Chinese universities in partnership with UNMC for this component include, but are not limited to: Peking University, Shandong University, Sichuan University, SJTU, Tongji University, Tsinghua University, & Xi’an Jiao Tong University.  

One component of the SSUHSI is professional education for faculty development, where qualified students from China may obtain a specialty-specific degree from UNMC in dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, or physical therapy.
