Dr. Liu became medical director of BHECN in April 2012. A board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, he is a prominent UNMC media commentator on mental health issues.

He is also clerkship director of the UNMC Department of Psychiatry, training third year medical students in mental health diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Liu is known for expertise in innovative integration of media and education, including development of interactive online training opportunities for interprofessional audiences.

A leader in medical education, Dr. Liu is a graduate of the UNMC Technology in Educational Scholarship (TiES) Program. Nationally, he has won awards for innovative teaching and he currently serves as co-chair of two education committees: the Clinical Simulation Initiative (CSI) Task Force for the Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry (ADMSEP) and the Training and Education Committee for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).
