Michael Rice, Ph.D., APRN

Michael Rice is a Professor of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at the College of Nursing, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Associate Director of BHECN and Project Director of the federally funded PIPN grant. He is a member of the American Academy of Nursing, a licensed Psychiatric APRN and serves as a member of the national Board of Directors for the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill - Nebraska chapter. He advocates for the use of distance education technology to meet mental health care needs of rural America. His efforts have been recognized with the prestigious 2002 EDUCAUSE award for Excellence in Technology Application for the Benefit of Humanity, 2003 award for Best Paper in Industry and Corporate Training: from EISTA: International Institute of Informatics, UNMC's 2010 Outstanding Teacher Award and the 2010 Educator Award from the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
