The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is a leader in cancer research and patient care. Patients receive care in two locations. The Peggy D. Cowdery Patient Care Center and Clinic, in the Lied Transplant Center on the campus of UNMC, is open and provides cancer treatment for patients 24 hours a day. Patients also receive care at the clinic located in west Omaha near 180th & Dodge Streets (just west of the Village Point shopping area.) In both locations, a dedicated nursing staff works closely with physicians and patients to develop a specialized plan of care for each individual patient. Among the many services offered by the clinics are chemotherapy, radiation, out-patient surgery, blood product administration, intravenous antibiotics, and evaluation of urgent problems when the need arises. With the opening of the west Omaha Cancer Center in 2008, patients now have access to cutting-edge technology and therapies in two locations in the Omaha area.
