Patient Care

We treat each patient as an individual and respect the right of that patient’s confidentiality.

The Peggy D. Cowdery Patient Care Center and Clinic, in the Lied Transplant Center, is open and provides cancer treatment for patients 24 hours a day.  For clinic appointments call the Peggy D. Cowdery Patient Care Center at (402) 559-6500.

Each of the more than 30 physicians at the treatment center and clinic are partnered with specially educated R.N.s who provide assistance of all types to the patients.

Among the many services offered by the clinic are chemotherapy, blood product administration, intravenous antibiotics and evaluation of urgent problems when the need arises.

The patients or their physicians may refer to the physicians at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and NHS anytime following diagnosis. We offer primary treatment, second opinions, investigational drug studies and transplant services.

Experimental therapies may be offered at the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center that may not be available at other institutions. Oncologists also participate in many continuing studies during drug development and testing which assures the patient the most up-to-date treatment available. The unique collaboration between our oncologists and basic researchers allow discoveries made in our laboratories to be taken directly to the patient.

The clinic offers individualized instruction as needed on chemotherapy treatments, cancer and other related diseases. We also schedule classes for various patient care topics.
