Screenings

The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and its hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, partner to provide cancer screenings free of charge at these annual events: 

  • Black Family Health & Wellness Association Health Fair - held every spring, this large fair promotes wellness in Omaha’s African American community:
    • Prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood tests
    • Digital rectal exams
    • Hemoccult kits
  • Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska -held the first weekend in June on a different ranch or feedlot, this annual event reaches Nebraska’s rural population. The Cattlemen’s Ball showcases rural Nebraska, promotes beef as part of a healthy diet, and raises money for cancer research:
    • Prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood tests
    • Hemoccult kits (colon cancer screening)
    • Facial skin checks to assess sun damage
    • Enroll patients on the Breast Cancer & Thyroid Cancer Collaborative Registries
    • Blood pressure checks
  • South Omaha Community Health Fair
    • Prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood tests
    • Hemoccult kits (colon cancer screening)
