Overview

The goals of the College of Medicine are to provide the best possible training both in the science and art of medicine. Over 85% of graduates obtain one of their top three choices of residency programs nationwide.

The College of Medicine offers several major educational programs:

The School of Allied Health Professions, within the College of Medicine, offers baccalaureate, master’s, and post-baccalaureate certificate and certificate programs in a variety of fields.

The UNMC graduate studies department offers a range of M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.

Learning facilities

The Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education is the new home of the College of Medicine. The state-of-the-art facility is where students attend lectures; learn in small group sessions; enjoy study breaks in a cozy reading room and practice skills with life-life patient simulators in the Sorrell clinical skills lab.

The Nebraska Medical CenterUNMC Physicians and the Omaha Veterans Affairs Medical Center offer students the opportunity to learn and work in inpatient and outpatient departments. The Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation provides the diagnosis and treatment for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The McGoogan Library of Medicine’s catalog and electronic resources can be searched 24 hours a day from on campus and off via the UNMC campus Intranet and the Internet.
