Patient Care

Access to numerous specialties, researchers developing the latest treatment options combined with expert faculty in a variety of departments make up the strength of our academic medical center.

From the first moments on campus, students can help serve patients and learn the team approach to health care as part of a group of student-run clinics. Clinical rotations in the third and fourth year of medical school cover a variety of disciplines and include a unique experience in rural medicine.

Upon graduation, many doctors choose to stay at UNMC for their residencies and can choose from hundreds of fellowship opportunities. Faculty members not only teach students in a classroom or clinic, they see patients themselves as part of the UNMC Physicians or the Children's Specialty Physicians private practice groups.

In addition, our campus partners with several area hospitals --- Children's Hospital and Medical Center and the VA Nebraska Western Iowa Health Care System--- to provide patient care.
