Cardiothoracic Surgery

John Y. Um, M.D.

Dr. UmDr. Um is a graduate from Brown University School of Medicine, Providence, Rhode Island.  He completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey in New Brunswick, NJ and his Cardiothoracic Surgery residency at the University of California San Francisco, CA.  Dr. Um also completed a fellowship in Thoracic Transplantation and Mechanical Assist Devices at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC.

Dr. Um is Board eligible with The American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

 

Dr. Um practices adult cardiac surgery at the Nebraska Medical Center. His interests are heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, surgical therapies for heart failure, and coronary and valvular heart disease.  He is an assistant professor in the division of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery.

 

Dr. Um and his wife Grace reside in Omaha with their young son Mathew.
