Speaker:

Dr. Nagamani Narayana is an assistant professor in the department of Oral Biology at UNMC College of Dentistry. She obtained her DMD from Temple University School of Dentistry in 2002 and her GPR, Oral Medicine certificate and MS (Oral Biology) at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, School of Dentistry. Dr. Narayana is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Oral Medicine and the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

Course description:

A case based discussion of diagnosis and management of common and challenging pathologies in a dental office including lichen planus, leukoplakia, burning mouth, dry mouth and aphthous ulcers will be presented. Approximately 30, 000 new cases of oral cancer are diagnosed in the USA every year. Early diagnoses of oral cancer may reduce mortality and morbidity. The usefulness of new instruments that are available for early diagnosis of oral cancer will be discussed.
