Course Fee: $300 Auxiliary (This course is for dental auxiliary only)
Dr. Shawneen Gonzalez is an assistant professor in the department of Oral Biology and Director of the Oral Radiology Clinic at UNMC College of Dentistry. She obtained her DDS from the University of Washington School Of Dentistry in 2005 and her Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology certificate and MS (Stomatology) at the University of Iowa College Of Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
This program is an introduction to radiographic technique. You will be instructed in proper evaluation and identification of intraoral radiographs.
Following this course, the participants will be able to:
• Recognize the geometric relationships of the radiation source, film and anatomical structures
• Identify the specific teeth and other structures that should be recorded in each acceptable periapical and bitewing radiograph
• Identify basic anatomic landmarks for identifying radiographs
• Apply the image shift principles
• Evaluate intraoral radiographs
Lecture/Discussion, mannequin clinical participation **Participants must have over 500 hrs chair side experience to attend this course** Limited to 12 participants
