Speaker:

Dr. Dennis Fasbinder, director of the advanced education in general dentistry program and a clinical professor at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, is board certified in general dentistry by the American Board of General Dentistry. He directs the Computerized Dentistry Unit dedicated to research and education on CAD/CAM dental systems and is a co-founder of the Fully Integrated Practice online education portal for CAD/CAM technology. Dr. Fasbinder also maintains a part-time private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Course Description:

The program will focus attention on comparisons of current systems to understand their capability and clinical application. Two major categories will be discussed: Digital Impression systems and chair-side CAD/CAM systems. The CEREC System (Sirona Dental) will be featured to demonstrate the clinical technique for both digital impressions and chair-side applications. CAD/CAM systems offer innovative ceramic materials and techniques for patient care. Selection of the ceramic, as well as the adhesive cementation material and technique, has a significant impact on the long-term success of the digital technique.

Course Objectives:

After attending this course and reviewing the handouts, the participant should be able to:

  • Understand the digital impression systems currently in the marketplace and their advantages, limitations, and clinical application,

  • Understand chair-side CAD/CAM systems for in-office implementation and their advantages, limitations, and clinical applications and

  • Understand the ceramic materials used with digital techniques and the appropriate adhesive cementation systems for their delivery.
