Caries Prevention in the 21st Century 8:30am-11:45am

 

Dental caries is the most prevalent infectious disease of our nation’s children. Proper preventive strategies would consider caries an infectious/transmissible disease. Treating dental caries as an infectious disease and early recognition and intervention are critical. The restorative treatment plan for infants, children and adolescents must be prepared in conjunction with an individually-tailored preventive program. This course will outline concepts and components of caries risk assessment and take the risk assessment tools and applies them to a plan of prevention for this disease. The latest topical agents in caries prevention for infants, children and adolescents will also be discussed.

 

All Ceramic Crowns 1:30pm-4:45pm

 

This CE program will review the basics of porcelain fused to metal technology and how it differs from the new all ceramic materials. Dr. Hansen will review multiple clinic cases. The review will concentrate on the clinical applicability of the various systems. The physical properties of the all ceramic materials will drive the way the practioner will prepare and seat the new crowns. We will review the use of aluminum oxide cores, pressed ceramics, zirconia oxide cores, infiltrated ceramics, and how these materials will satisfy the most demanding esthetics and functional needs. The attendee will learn the basic differences between the various new all ceramic crowns on the market and how to prepare the tooth to receive them. The attendee will learn the different types of luting agents to cement the new crowns or bond them to the underlying tooth structure.
