Endodontics, Periodontics and Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery Sections

Welcome to the Department of Surgical Specialties located on the main level of the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, NE. This department encompasses the dental clinical disciplines of endodontics, periodontics and oral/maxillofacial surgery. The full-time departmental faculty are all specially trained within their particular discipline with most achieving diplomat status in their specialty boards. The department teaches a rigorous undergraduate program in all three specialty areas. Additionally, the sections of endodontics and periodontics offer a post-doctoral program and a masters program.

Oral/maxillofacial surgery also has an advanced associate educational program (See Graduate Program). The faculty has a significant commitment to scholarly pursuits as well as teaching. The Department has typically had a very large research component with grant support coming from various sources including governmental and dental industry. Scholarly publications from this original research are widely embraced in the national dental community. Finally, the Department is very active in providing dental continuing education at local, regional and national venues.
