The department currently employs 19 (1.0 FTE) full-time faculty and 8 (2.6 FTE) part-time faculty during the entire academic year (Fall, Spring & Summer). During the Fall and Spring semesters we also have an additional 7 (0.9 FTE) part-time faculty. We rely heavily on and appreciate the contributions of our part-time faculty in order to successfully carry out the demands of our significant pre-clinical and clinical undergraduate and postgraduate restorative dentistry curriculum.

In addition to the administrative responsibilities as the Department Chairman, Dr. Henry St. Germain serves as the Course Director for Operative Dentistry and Occlusion and is also a faculty member in the undergraduate Operative Dentistry Clinics.

Dr. Joan Sivers serves the College of Dentistry as the Assistant Dean of Clinics and as Section Director of Priority Care. The Department Vice-Chairman is Dr. William Johnson. Dr. David Covey is the Director of Section of Operative Dentistry. Dr. Paul Hansen is Director of the Section of Prosthodontics, Director of Biomaterials is Dr. Mark Beatty. Dr. Ron Attanasio is Director of Temporomandibular Disorders.

A new Section of Priority Care was established in July 2007 with Dr. Joan Sivers as Director.  Faculty members in this Section include Drs. Yosh Ameku, Mary Lynn Froeschle, Jim Jenkins and Ernie Sigler who comprise the Division of PCCC (Patient Centered Comprehensive Care).  Also, the Department welcomes Drs. Tom Heuke and Myhanh Phan-Rinne to the Section of Priority Care and they comprise the Division of Dental Emergency.

One new faculty member joined ARD in September 2007, Dr. Gerald Byrne from Truro, United Kingdom.  We are pleased to have Dr. Byrne as an integral part of the Section of Prosthodontics.

Staff members in the Department of Adult Restorative Dentistry include Bette Lempka who is the Department Office Associate, Linda Diehl serves the Office Assistant II. Bobby Simetich is a Research Technician in the Section of Biomaterials. Julie Wagner serves as Dental Assistant Specialist in Adult Restorative Dentistry and DeAnn Valverde is a Dental Assistant.

Technology in the Restorative Sciences is expanding rapidly. Although we continue to be proud of the excellent clinical experience we provide our students, we have a talented group of faculty who are anxious to gain experience with new and proven equipment, materials and clinical techniques. Developments in areas such as intraoral cameras, laser soft/hard tissue treatments, implant systems, air abrasion, rapid light curing and clinical simulation provide some examples where our faculty in restorative dentistry provide additional education/experience in order to better prepare the future dental practitioners at Nebraska .
