Orthodontic/Dentofacial Orthopedics and Pediatric Dentistry Sections

Welcome to the Department of Growth and Development [Dr. Michael Molvar, Interim Chair, located on the main level of the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska. This department encompasses the dental clinical specialties of orthodontics/dentofacial orthopedics and pediatric dentistry. The full-time departmental faculty are all specialty-trained within their respective disciplines. The department teaches a rigorous predoctoral program in both specialty areas. In addition, the sections of orthodontics/dentofacial orthopedics and pediatric dentistry each offer a postgraduate program in their respective dental specialties. A Master of Science degree with a thesis (MSIA) is encouraged and supported (See Graduate Program). The faculty has a significant commitment to scholarly pursuits as well as teaching. The department has had grant support from various sources, including governmental and foundation as well as from dental industry. Scholarly publications from this original research are widely embraced in the national dental community. Finally, the department is active in providing dental continuing education at local, regional, and national venues.
