Shawneen Gonzalez, assistant professor in the department of Oral Biology and Director of the Oral Radiology Clinic at UNMC College of Dentistry, obtained her DDS from the University of Washington School Of Dentistry and her Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology certificate and MS (Stomatology) at the University of Iowa College Of Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Course Description:
This course complies with the Statutes, Rules and Regulations approved by the NE State Board of Dental Examiners.

Educational Objectives:
Following this course, the participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the geometric relationships of the radiation source, film and anatomical structures
  • Identify the specific teeth and other structures that should be recorded in each acceptable periapical and bitewing radiograph
  • Identify basic anatomic landmarks for identifying radiographs
  • Apply the image shift principles
  • Evaluate intraoral radiographs

Method of teaching: Lecture/Discussion, mannequin clinical participation
**Participants must have over 200 hrs chair side experience to attend this course**
