The 2004 Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award/Residency Match festivity
took place at the Upstream downtown in the Old Market. Students from the
Emergency Medicine Student Interest Group as well as upcoming M4's and
graduating M4's were all in attendance.
Lance Hoffman, MD, Clerkship Director, (shown right) presents this year's recipient, Brian C. Cunningham (shown left) with the 2003/2004 Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award. Brian who will perform his residency here at UNMC, received a 1 year subscription to the SAEM monthly journal, 1 year subscription to the SAEM Newsletter, 1 academic year membership in the SAEM, a certificate suitable for framing, a plaque, and lastly a check for $100.00. Rick Walker, MD (shown bottom left) is also among the crowd decked out in his Grateful Dead attire.
Chad Branecki enthusiastically reviews his new "Emergency Procedures
and Techniques" textbook. Chad will be staying at UNMC to
complete his residency.

Michigan State University will be the new home for the next 3 years for Tom
Rankin. Tom can be seen above dancing a jig after receiving the "Emergency
Guide to Wilderness" textbook from Dr. Millward.
Andy Herd (left) matched at the University of Florida HSC in Jacksonville
can be seen in the above photo showing off his new "Geriatric Emergency
Medicine" textbook. I am sure Andy will refer to this text often
as he treats all of Florida retirees.
Dr. Millward presents "Synopsis of Pediatric Emergency Medicine"
to Ben Fagot (right), who recently became a father. Ben will also stay
here at UNMC to complete his residency.
