Vacation and Leave
-
Twenty working days paid of vacation per academic year.

1 week of paid professional leave for approved meetings.

Sick leave – You will accrue 12 days in your first and second years of training and 180 days for each year of training after 24 months of employment.

Maternity & Paternity leave for the birth or adoption of a child will be granted with a negotiable amount of paid and unpaid days.

All persons are eligible for FMLA after 12 months of full-time employment with the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Additional Residency Education Information
-
There will be an annual ABEM In-Service Exam given to each resident in the ED residency program each February
A research project that will be presented during your 3rd year.
-
Residents will supervise lower level emergency residents in addition to other service residents performing rotations in the emergency department.
-
Emergency Medicine residents will also be responsible for the supervision and assisting in the education of third and fourth year medical students who will perform rotations lasting 2-4 weeks in the emergency department.

A three-floor library which is located in the hospital recently faced a $2.3 million renovation designed to facilitate delivery of electronic information and to improve study areas.

Off campus electives are offered.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support course fees paid by the Medical Center.

$500 per year for each resident for educational purposes.

Reimbursement for travel to and from required training sites more than 25 miles from the
