SURG-733 Trauma Center/Emergency Department
Periods Offered: Each four weeks
Student Limit: 4
This is an experience at the Nebraska Medical Center University hospital, which will show the operation of an emergency department in a large
community by full-time faculty of the College of Medicine and allows students and direct patient contact under supervision of an attending physician. In addition, the rotation includes wound care and suturing lab, extremity injury, and immobilization lab, required reading (textbooks provided at no cost) and a post-test. Paramedic squad observation will also be offered.

SURG-761 Off-Campus Emergency
Periods Offered: Each four weeks
Student Limit: By Arrangement
Special off-campus electives in Emergency Medicine at other medical centers can be arranged for an extraordinary learning experience not regularly available within the department. An Off-Campus Elective Application form must be submitted for this experience. The primary concern is to identify a responsible and acceptable faculty-in-absentia who can assure an active clerkship and offer an evaluation of performance. A student
evaluation of this clerkship will be required upon completion.
