Annual in-training examination

  • In cooperation with the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery

Home Study Course

  • Provided through the American Academy of Otoloaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and usually held September through April of each year.

Local and national conferences

  • Opportunities to present and attend UNMC Winter Symposium held in Colorado each year
  • Attendance at regional and national meetings is encouraged

Temporal bone dissections

  • Courses conducted annually

Head and neck dissection

  • Courses conducted annually

Grand Rounds

  • Conducted on a weekly basis with one session each month dedicated to Quality Improvement
  • Designed to expand educational opportunities by addressing unique and distinctive topics

Journal Club

  • Monthly dinner meetings for faculty and residents
  • Review and discussion of current articles
  • Community-wide clinical practices discussion with private practice otolaryngologists

Tumor Conference

  • Weekly conference of residents, faculty and other members of the medical community to educate, discuss diagnoses, and provide treatment planning of head and neck tumor patients

Core Basic Science Conference

  • Weekly conference covering the broad scope of surgical and medical education in a cyclical manner
  • Held the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Wednesday of each week

Facial Plastic Surgery Conference

  • Monthly conference to strengthen the resident’s understanding of facial plastic surgery
  • The multi disciplinary conference is held on the first Wednesday of each month

Otology/Neurotology

  • Monthly dinner meeting held at restaurant or staff home, featuring presentations of interesting otologic case reports
  • Designed to expand knowledge, clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Held monthly at the University of Nebraska Medical Center

COCLIA

  • COCLIA stands for Comprehensive Otolaryngologic Curriculum Learning through Interactive Approach. It is a novel teaching tool designed to help teach residents otolaryngology - head and neck surgery knowledge through the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
