The office of Vice Chancellor for External Affairs promotes UNMC's image, creates advocates for its mission and vision, and builds lasting relationships among its stakeholders.

Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external affairs, is a key member of UNMC's leadership team. In promoting UNMC's mission to improve the health of Nebraska, he coordinates UNMC's legislative, political, alumni and public relations. In this role, he oversees three departments:

Public Affairs, which is responsible for all internal and external communications efforts to enhance UNMC's image. This includes media relations, publications, community relations, UNMC Today, the Web site and electronic communications.

Alumni Affairs, which builds relationships among alumni, students and UNMC and its respective colleges by sponsoring student activities and scholarships, hosting alumni reunions, communicating with alumni and recognizing alumni achievements.

Office of Government Relations, which focuses on advancing UNMC's relationship with its Congressional delegation and federal agencies, communicating UNMC's research successes, and identifying, tracking and analyzing federal issues.
