A Blend of the Best: University- and Community-based Training
The Family Practice Residency Program of the University of Nebraska Medical Center offers you a blend of the best . . . a unique combination of training, facilities, people, places to meet the needs of tomorrow’s family practitioners.
The importance of family practice is well recognized in a state as geographically and socially diverse as Nebraska. Therefore, this Family Practice Residency Program receives strong support from Nebraska’s legislature, communities, and hospitals.
Our innovative, two-stage program prepares residents to provide family practice health care in rural, suburban, and urban settings. During the first year, you train at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
During the second and third years, residents focus on the delivery of family health care at Saint Francis Medical Center in Grand Island and at physician practices. Continuity clinics take place in Doniphan, Nebraska in a facility that was recently constructed and more recently expanded to further meet the needs of the community and the needs of the residents while training there. This training allows you to develop your skills in diverse clinical settings, and includes both inpatient and outpatient care. You will also benefit from the Midwest’s family-oriented environment and the unique level of cohesion among area physicians.
If you are interested in a family practice career, this program could be an excellent choice for you.
