The Medical Center

Though we’re far from the hustle and bustle of big cities, our medical center is undeniably sophisticated. Regional West Medical Center and its affiliated local physician practices have been recognized for exceptional outcomes and benchmarks in national quality studies.

  • Urban hospital in a rural environment
  • State-of-the-art technology
  • Outcomes that stack up against the best

Our radiology department is second to none in the state of Nebraska. Staffed by an experienced group of board-certified radiologists and home to a two-year School of Radiologic Technology, the department provides the latest diagnostic imaging services including fixed-site Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computerized Axial Tomography, angiography, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. Our mammography program is accredited by the American College of Radiology.

As a key component in a regional emergency medical system, we support emergency helicopter ambulance service throughout the region. Regional West Medical Center is verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level II Trauma Center. Our emergency department is the only one in the Nebraska panhandle staffed by board-certified physicians 24 hours a day. The department treats more than 11,000 patients each year.

Intensive care services range from a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to an eight-bed Coronary Care unit affiliated with the Denver Cardiology Group. The Neurosciences department also has a formal affiliation with the Colorado Neurological Institute.

The Cancer Treatment Center at Regional West Medical Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. It is affiliated with a JCAHO-accredited, Medicare-approved hospice program.
