General Surgery

 The section of General Surgery is one of nine sections in the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Department of Surgery and encompasses specialties in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Trauma and Critical Care.

 The General Surgery section currently has 15 faculty members and 4 mid-level providers who provide clinical services at The Nebraska Medical Center and The Omaha Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Omaha. The Nebraska Medical Center is one of 3 major health care providers in the Omaha area, serving Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. The main teaching hospital has a capacity of 421 beds. The General Surgery Residency has four categorical positions at each level.
