Bariatric surgery is weight-loss
surgery for the morbidly obese patient which is defined as being 100 pounds or
more above your ideal body weight or a body mass index (BMI) greater than 40 (BMI
Chart). Procedures performed for bariatric surgery include the
Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass and Gastric Banding. Many
of these procedures are performed laparoscopically. This specialty area is staffed
by three surgeons.
If you are interested in bariatric surgery, please contact our bariatric
surgery information request line at 402-559-9500.
You will also be required to attend an
informational session before setting up an initial evaluation appointment. The
information sessions are held

also our New Life support group for those who have

each month in Rms 1-4 of the Lower Storz Pavilion at Clarkson

The surgeons and physician assistant see potential patients for evaluations in the
UNMC Physician's Surgery clinic located on 5th floor of the Durham Outpatient Center.
