General Surgery Residency Training Program
Thank you for your interest in post-graduate surgical educationat UNMC, an ACGME accredited residency program.
Four categorical positions and four designated preliminary positions are available for the first year of training in General Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
We welcome Foreign Medical Graduates to apply and currently have 5 IMG's in the program for the 2009-2010 academic year. If you are an international medical graduate and wish to apply please read through this information Foreign Medical Grads.
Applicants must submit all necessary materials via ERAS no later than November 1st (applications received after that date will NOT be considered)
Requirements:
-All applications must be submittexd through ERAS.
-3 letters of recommendation, 2 from surgeons.
-Graduation from medical school within the last 5 years.
-Activity in clinical medicine within the past 5 years.
-Clinical experience in the United States
-USMLE Step 1 & 2 scores of no less than 210 on first attempt
-Pass the Clinical Skills Examination on the first attempt

Interview dates will be scheduled between the months of November and January. The final applications will be evaluated by the General Surgery staff and ranked and submitted to the National Resident Matching Program.
