Who We Are

 

 

The University of Nebraska Medical Center is the only public health science center in the state. With nearly 3,200 students, and 4,700 faculty and staff, UNMC is a tremendous economic driver in Nebraska. UNMC’s research funding from external sources now exceeds $100 million annually and has resulted in the creation of more than 2,400 highly skilled jobs in the state.

As the teaching hospital for the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the Nebraska Medical Center assists in the training and education of more than 1,000 students annually.   This 689 bed facility is Nebraska’s largest health care facility – with more than 4,900 employees and more than 1,000 physicians on staff.

Implementing the Health Care Legislation

In March, President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (HR 3590), and the reconciliation package (HR 4872).  While many of the policies will take effect in 2014, we are continuing to understand how portions of the law will be implemented.  View the documents below for more information.
