UNO/PKI Collaboration

The University of Nebraska at Omaha's College of Information Science & Technology is located in The Peter Kiewit Institute.

Information Science, Engineering & Technology (UNO/PKI) have actively engaged with UNMC in developing collaborative initiatives that span the gamut of academic activities including curriculum sharing, collaborative research and development activities.

Specifically, UNO/PKI's MS in MIS (Management Information Systems) program has established a specialization in health informatics with two key courses being offered on-site at UNMC by UNMC HIP faculty.

UNO/PKI MIS courses form a critical part of the newly approved health informatics specialization in the interdisciplinary graduate degree offered by UNMC. UNO/PKI faculty are members of the UNMC HIP graduate faculty and actively participate in the planning and development of its programs.

In the research and development front, UNO/PKI faculty are working with UNMC HIP faculty on various projects -- for example, development of a PDA application for tobacco cessation, validating and developing a compiler/interpreter for GELLO, and a visualization tool for showing published research constructs. The goal of this collaboration is to jointly develop and expand academic programs and sustain a strong relationship with a foundation of research and grant funding.
